The basic collar/necklace worn by mostly females when not wearing a duty uniform.

You begin by cutting out the pattern and selecting your fabric. You will need to cut out fusible interfacing to give body
to the fabric and to keep the collar section standing up straight. You also may want to cut out the non-slip rubber, which comes in several colors,
for the bottom of the necklace. This will keep it from shifting and turning.

You also decide at this point if you're going to line it, and what embellishments you plan to work with.
|
|
|
Once you have cut out your fabric, zigzag the edges; you sew on the extension piece into place. To add cording to the
edges, pin the cording into place and sew by hand. You can also insert a thin wire to be able to shape the necklace and keep it from standing up in
odd places. You then sew down the cording with the sewing machine. (You now sew on the bottom-lining if you're going to line it.)

|
|
At this point you apply any embellishments such as painting, beading, pewter accents, and embroidery. Once you have
completed the embellishments, you then sew up the up standing collar, and then insert it into necklace. The up standing collar can also be
embellished with trim, beads, pewter accents, and other metallic embellishments.

|
Before you seal the bottom of the up standing collar, sew the snaps into place. When the snaps have been sewn onto
the necklace and up standing collar, close the bottom of the necklace and up standing collar with a quick whipstitch.

There are various examples of embellishments from various characters. Grilka's collar was embellished with the same
trim as that used on her costume. It was applied to the upstanding collar. "The House of Quark" DS9

The Dax wedding collar is an example of how to insert the lining. Worf had a matching collar in the wedding scene from "You
are Cordially Invited" Deep Space Nine. I also inserted a wire to the outer edge to keep it laying flat against the gown. For the Dax
