Creating the Padded Front Panel
|
|
When you have cut out your fabric pieces, take the center front piece, iron the fold before un-pinning the pattern
piece and transferring the quilting lines to the fabric. When the lines have been transferred, insert the batting, pin down in place, and sew.
insert a jean needle into your sewing machine. If you are making the R'Usstai, head of the house, or Worf's gold Kal'Hyah cloak, Insert a twin
needle andsew the quilting lines as marked. For the top section, which has the notch to lineup the side section of the vest, the quilting lines
should not go beyond the seam line as indicated on the pattern. Zig zag all raw edges.

At this point, you assemble the pockets and flaps, and sew into place as indicated in the pattern. Remember to
iron the interfacing to the back of the pockets before ironing the fold lines into place on each pocket. Iron the pocket edges down, pin to the
front panel, and sew into place. Assemble the flaps, sew together, press, and sew into place on the front panel.

Stay stitch the top and bottom.
Next press the side folds, and bottom. Sew the bottom edges together and pin onto the vest.

|
Cut out the flaps, and iron on the interfacing. With good sides facing sew along the edges of the flap leaving
the top open. Cut out notches at the corners, so there will be no fabric bunching when you turn it inside out.
